Local Leads agreement
Version 2026-10-25.4 · 2026-10-25.4
You pay only on a job you win from a Local Leads request: 5% of the final amount with a $25 minimum, charged to the card you save ($25 when you mark it won, the rest when it's finished). Nothing to receive, accept or pass on a lead, and nothing for a job you lose.
What this covers
This agreement is between your business and Operate ("we", "us"), which runs Local Leads. It covers customer requests we send you through Local Leads. It does not cover customers who find you some other way, including through your own website or shop page.
You accept it by checking the box when you turn on Local Leads. We keep a record of the version you accepted, when, and the account that accepted it.
What you pay
For each job you win from a Local Leads request: 5% of the final job amount, with a $25 minimum. A job is "won" when the customer agrees to have you do the work.
The final job amount is everything the customer agrees to pay you for that job, before sales tax: labor, materials, and any changes or extra work added along the way.
More work you agree to with the same customer within 12 months of their request counts as part of that job, whether or not it goes through Operate.
You pay nothing to receive a lead, to ask the customer questions, to accept a lead, for a lead you pass on, or for a job you do not win. There is no monthly fee for Local Leads.
Requests sent before October 25, 2026 keep the old rule: 5% of a won job, with no minimum.
Reporting the outcome
Mark each lead you accepted as won or lost within 7 days of knowing, on your Leads page or with the buttons in the emails we send you. When the job is done, enter the final job amount, or turn the lead into an Operate job and the job total is used.
We also ask the customer. A few days after you accept, we email them to ask whether they hired you; if they say yes, the job counts as won and your card is charged $25, and we tell you. After a win we ask them about what the job cost. If you haven't entered the final amount within 7 days of their answer, their amount is used. If you think a customer's answer is wrong, tell us through Get help.
If the amount changes (extra work, a change order, a discount), update it within 7 days of the change.
If a customer does not pay you, or you refund them, tell us within 30 days through Get help. We will lower the fee to match what you actually kept.
When it is paid
The first time you accept a request, you save a card with Stripe. Nothing is charged then, and we do not see or store your card number.
When you mark a job won, or turn the lead into an Operate job, your card is charged $25.
When the job is finished, you enter the final job amount (or the Operate job total is used) and your card is charged the rest of the 5%. On a job of $500 or less, the $25 covers it and nothing more is charged.
If a charge does not go through, your Leads page shows what is owed. Update your card and pay it within 15 days.
Fees on requests sent before October 25, 2026 stay recorded on your Leads page and are not charged until we give you at least 30 days' notice by email and on your Leads page.
If a fee is wrong
If you think a statement is wrong, tell us through Get help within 30 days of the statement. We will look at the job records with you and fix any mistake with a credit or refund. Nothing you dispute in good faith counts as late while we look at it.
Late or unpaid fees
15 days after the due date we will send a reminder.
30 days after the due date, new leads stop reaching you until the balance is paid. Leads you have already accepted stay yours. From then on, the unpaid balance carries a late charge of 1.5% a month, or the highest rate the law allows if that is lower.
60 days after the due date we may remove you from Local Leads, and we may collect what is owed, including through a collection agency or small-claims court, plus reasonable collection costs where the law allows.
Your Operate desk is a separate subscription. It is not switched off because of an unpaid lead fee.
Playing fair
Each of these counts as cheating:
Marking a job lost, or not reporting it, when you won it. Reporting less than the real final amount. Splitting a job, or billing it under another name or business, to lower the fee. Asking a customer to cancel their request, or to contact you outside Local Leads, so the work is not counted. Having someone else accept leads for you to get around these terms.
We may check outcomes, including by asking customers whether the work was done and roughly what it cost.
Keep your quotes and invoices for Local Leads jobs for 12 months after the job, and show them to us if we ask.
If we find a job was hidden or under-reported, you owe the fee on the real amount, and it is due right away. We may also pause or end your Local Leads. Deliberate or repeated cheating ends it permanently, and we may collect what is owed as described above.
Before we act, we will tell you what we found and give you 10 days to explain or correct it.
What we do for you
We send each request to the pros who serve that kind of work in that town. The first pro to accept gets the customer's contact details, and the request closes for everyone else.
We do not sell your accepted customers to anyone else. We do not promise a number of leads or that any lead turns into a job, and you only pay on jobs you win.
You can turn Local Leads off at any time on your Leads page. Fees for jobs you already won are still owed, and the 12-month rule for repeat work with a Local Leads customer still applies after you leave.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for your work, your prices, your licenses, permits, and insurance, and for treating customers honestly. License information you enter is self-reported, and we do not verify it.
Use a customer's contact details only for the job they asked about.
If a customer or anyone else makes a claim against us because of your work, your conduct, or your breaking these terms, you will cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
Changes
If we change the rate or these terms, we will give you 30 days' notice and ask you to accept the new version. A new rate applies only to leads sent after it takes effect. If you do not accept, you can turn Local Leads off and owe nothing new.
These terms sit alongside the Operate terms. Georgia law applies.
Questions or a fee to dispute: Get help. The Operate terms cover the rest of Operate.
